Embroidery Contest 2008
Entry # 26
This participant sent in pictures of his Japanese themed quilt. This
is his story:
"It is called Japanese Lanterns as the quilt represents strings of
paper lanterns as seen at some festivals in Japan tied in a line with red
cord. The cream background jacquard cotton fabric was purchased in Barcelona
while attending the European Quilt Expo some years ago. The quilt is machine
quilted to create the dimensional shape of the ‘lanterns’ which are an
octagonal in shape, with additional fabric printed with Japanese images
and flowers.
This quilt was made using the Japanese Black Work embroideries, resized
using 4D software by Pfaff and stitched on the Pfaff Creative Vision sewing
machine and measures 78 inches by 82 inches.
There are 82 embroideries, some mirrored to give variation to the quilt
design."
The designs used are from the Geisha
Blackwork Sets I and II and Geisha
Blackwork Sets III and IV. |
