This is our newest project - a watercolor quilt for Easter. For
this wall quilt, we used the machine embroidery designs Cutwork
Easter
Eggs, and flowers from Flower
Embelishment Set III and Flower
Embelishment Set II.
The finished size of the quilt is 29" x 38". |
|
| First we cut light blue and bright green fabrics into 2" x 2" squares
and arranged them on 2" Quilt Fuse, a fusible non-woven layout grid. |
|
| After we sewed the background, we added Easter-themed borders, featuring
baskets with easter eggs and bunnies. |
|
Then we made the embroideries of the balloons and flowers. For the
ballons, we used the Cutwork Lace designs from the Easter
Egg Set.
The flowers are from Flower
Embelishment Set III and Flower
Embelishment Set II. |
|
| Then we put together an applique bunny. We used cotton flannel and
Lite Steam-A-Seam 2 fusible web. |
|
| When embroidery and applique were ready, we pressed it and made a quilt
sandwich. We quilted the workpiece all around. |
|
| Then, we pressed the piece again, squared it, and finished the raw
edges. |
| The final touch was to attach satin ribbons as balloon strings and
glue a plastic eye to the bunny. |
|
We hope that you like our idea and will come up with many of your
own.
