Hexagonal Quilted Table Toppers with Rose Embroidery
Making a hexagonal quilt is easy using the Diamond ruler by Darlene
Zimmerman, while projects with this unique shape stand out from the crowd.
We used this concept to create the attractive table toppers you can see
below.
The finished size of the table toppers is about 21" in diameter.
We used the Eglantine
Rose Set embroidery design for a large (5" x 7") hoop.
For the project we used the Diamond ruler by Darlene Zimmerman and
cotton fabrics of different colors:
about 1/4 yard of white fabric,
1/4 yard each of paterned white-and-pink fabric, and
1/4 yard of pale green fabrics.
You will also need backing and polyester craft felt for batting and stabilizer.
Cutting:
For each table topper:
Out of white fabric cut:
6 diamonds with side 4 1/2";
Out of the patterned fabric cut:
6 diamonds with side 4 1/2";
Out of the pale green fabric cut:
2 strips 2" wide and the length of the width of the fabric, subcut
into 6 strips 12 1/2" long (for the borders)
2 strips 2 1/2" wide and the length of the width of the fabric (for
the binding)
Assembly:
On your working table place the diamonds as shown.
Sew the diamonds together with a seam allowance of 1/4".
Attach the border strips.
Trim the ends.
Embroidery:
Place the top on the polyester craft felt. Smooth with your hands and
baste along the white border.
