The designs used for the bookmarks are from the Autumn Redwork Set IV for a large (5" x 7") hoop.
You will need solid cotton fabric, light-weight cut-away stabilizer, and embroidery threads. You will also need tassels and pinking shears (scissors with zig-zag edges).
The bookmarks are two-sided, there is embroidery on both sides.
For one bookmark we used two different stitch-outs. Stabilize the fabric with cut-away stabilizer. Make 2 stitch-outs .
Place one of the stitch-outs face down. Position the second stitch-out on top of the first one, face up.
With the help of pins, align the edges of the embroidery on both sides.
Pin the pieces together.
Cut away a narrow strip at the bottom of the stitch-outs, as shown.
Insert a tassel, tuck its loop between the stitch-outs and pin in place.
On your sewing machine, topstitch along the embroidery margins.
Using pinking shears, cut away the excess fabric.
You have a two-sided bookmark. Enjoy!
