3D Poinsettia Applique and Doily Set

The 3D Poinsettia Applique and Doily Set is available in 3 sizes: for small - 4" x 4" (100 x 100mm), large - 5" x 7" (130 x 180 mm), and for mega 6" x 10" hoops.

You will need applique fabric, water soluble mesh and embroidery threads. 40-weight embroidery polyester threads are preferred for the project.
Cotton thread is not suitable because the embroidery will be too bulky.
Rayon thread is sensitive to the chemicals in the water-soluble mesh and will not work for the project.

Step One: Hoop 2 layers of water soluble mesh stabilizer, such as Vilene. Place the applique fabric with stabilizer over it. Start embroidering the design.

Step Two: After the outline is finished, take the hoop out (do not take the embroidery out of the hoop!) and, working with very sharp scissors, cut away the baste-stitch first, then the excess applique fabric as close to the outline as possible.

Step Three: Return the hoop to the machine and finish embroidering. Take the embroidery out of the hoop and cut the excess stabilizer. Soak the embroidery in warm water for one minute. Spread it out on a towel and let it air dry. Don't press!

Step Four: Hand-stitch both parts together through the center of the flower.

Now you can place the 3D flower on a table, or attach it to a wall-hanging, table-top and even to your clothes.
