The goal of this quick project was to mend and decorate a pair of blue jeans. We used designs from the FSL Autumn Leaves Set.
The pair of jeans we used was slightly worn but still quite serviceable, except for a few small holes, like the one in the photo below.
We hooped the area we wanted to mend with light-weight cut-away mesh and embroidered one of the leaves from the FSL Autumn Leaves Set. over the hole.
We used a #14 needle and polyester embroidery threads.
Instead of fall colors, as recommended for the design, we used summer green.
We embroidered the same leaf on the back of the jeans. We were worried that several layers of denim in the pocket area would be a challenge for the machine, but the machine managed it without a hitch!
To balance out the leaf at the top, we decidedto decorate the pant leg. However, it's impossible to make an embroidery on a pant leg without ripping the seam. We didn't want to do this, so instead we decided to attach an FSL leaf. The result looks original and somewhat whimsical.
We hope that you liked our idea and will come up with many of your own.
