Embroidery Contest 2008

Entry # 29

This contestant submitted a Christmas dress as her entry. Here is what she writes:

"I used the Babylock Esante machine. Embroidery designs used were the Poinsettia Lace Corner, Poinsettia Corner Lace Set, and 3-D Poinsettia Applique and Doily Flower.

This Christmas dress I made for my granddaughter, Addie. The dress is a red polyester taffeta. The sheer bodice was constructed of a red with black highlights polyester organza, embroidered in black sulky thread, using the Poinsettia Lace Corner and Poinsettia Corner Lace Set. I drew the bodice pattern onto the water soluble stabilizer with a black marker, made copies of the embroidery designs, and positioned them in opposite directions to fill the entire bodice. I then marked an outline on the stabilizer for each design. I hooped the stabilizer and organza and stitched out my created design pattern before cutting out the bodice. I lined the bodice with the same sheer organza. I used the Poinsettia lace flower on the sleeves, embroidering on the organza and then lining with the organza. Both the bodice and sleeves are transparent, although the camera does not show it well. The flower at the waist was the 3-D Poinsettia Applique and Doily Flower design and created in the same manner as the bodice and sleeves, except I cut it out."
