These are instructions on how to embroider the Easter Egg with Chicken Cutwork Lace design. The design is available in 2 sizes for the large (5" x 7") and mega (6" x 10") hoops.
You will need fabric, water soluble mesh and embroidery threads. It's possible to embroider this design as a lace insert and as a freestanding pattern.
Step One:
To embroider the design as an insert, hoop the fabric with water soluble mesh. Start the machine. It will embroider the outline of the egg.
Start the machine again. It will embroider the outline of the lace and stop.
Step Two: Take the hoop from the machine. With a pair of sharp scissors cut away the fabric in the areas shown on the picture - around the inner sphere and around the chicken with basket.
Step Three: Return the hoop to the machine and finish embroidering.
Step Four: Wash away the stabilizer and neatly spread on a flat surface and leave to air dry. Press.
To embroider it as a freestanding design, hoop 2 layers of water soluble mesh. Start embroidering. The machine will embroider the outline of the egg and stop.
Step Two: Cover the outline with fabric and start the machine. The machine will embroider the outline of the lace and stop.
Step Three: Cut away the fabric on both sides of the sphere. Take care not to cut through the stitches.
Step Four: Return the hoop to the machine and finish embroidering.
Step Five: Wash away the stabilizer and neatly spread on a flat surface and leave to air dry. Press if needed.
The freestanding sample was used to make a greeting card.
