Size: 45mm x 180mm (1.77" x 7"). Stitches: 15207. Colors: 3/3 .
Size: 67mm x 180mm (2.63" x 7" ). Stitches 19086. Colors: 3/3

You will need :

  • embroidery threads, either rayon or polyester,
  • base fabric (fabric on which you embroider),
  • embroidery stabilizer, the type and weight depends on your project,
  • piece of applique fabric,
  • scissors.

Embroidery:

Stabilize the base fabric with stabilizer. Hoop it tightly.
Prepare the embroidery thread. Please note that you do not need to change threads - you can use the same thread to embroider the entire design.
Upload the embroidery file into the machine.

The first color will embroider the base of the motif and stop. This base will make the finished design stand out over the surface. If you want the design to be flat, skip this step.

Cover the outline with a piece of applique fabric. Start the machine. It will embroider the outline of the design over the applique fabric and stop.

With a pair of sharp scissors, cut away the fabric around the outline and inside the motif circles as close to the stitches as possible.

Return the hoop to the machine. Start it again. The last, third, color will finish the raw edges of the applique.

Freestanding Applique

If you'd like to get a freestanding applique, as shown on our pictures, make a sandwich of 2 layers water-soluble stabilizer with a nylon netting between them. This will be your base. Embroider the design as described above.

Cut away the excess stabilizer, wash away the remaining stabilizer.

Lay the stitch-out to air dry. Press, if needed. Cut away the excess netting. Now you can use the freestanding applique as decorative elements on the garments in places which are difficult to hoop, as loops , as belts, as bracelets, etc.
