Cutting:
The central part is 9" x 33". Trim your piece to this size, if it is bigger.

Out of fabric for the first border, cut
  • 2 strips measuring 1 1/2" x 33" and
  • 2 strips measuring 1 1/2" x 11".
Cut the remaining fabric in 2 1/2" strips and the length of the width of the fabric for the binding. You will need 3 or 4 of them depending on the width of the fabric.

Out of fabric for the second border, cut
  • 2 strips measuring 4 1/2" x 35" and
  • 2 strips measuring 4 1/2" x 19".

Assembly of the Top:
Note: Seam allowance is 1/4", press the seam immediately after you make it.
Sew the long 1 1/2" strips to the long edges of the central part.

Embroidery:
If you have a printer, print out screen shots of the designs. If you do not have a printer, cut out paper squares and rectangles the size of the designs.

Position the print-outs or shapes on the central part. When you like the arrangement, pin them in place.
After that, one by one, stabilize the fabric with light-weight cut away stabilizer and embroider the designs.

Now place the backing on a flat surface (table) face down. Cover with batting. Spread your working piece over it.

Pin all layers together.
We quilted in a free-motion style all over the table runner.
