Pine Trees Quilt
This small wall quilt is sweet and simple. No piecing is needed, the quilt is a wholecloth one. It features the designs from the Abstract Pine Tree Set and a wide binding. We made the quilt in rustic colors, but feel free to make it in any color you like.
The finished size of the quilt is 21" x 11", but the size is not crucial, you can make it any length. It can be used for a tablerunner.

Embroidery:
|
Mark the position of the embroidery on the fat quarter. If you have a printer and embroidery software, print-outs of the designs will be helpful. Otherwise, you can cut out rectangle of the size of the designs and distribute them on the fabric for convenience.
Stabilize the chosen area. Hoop the fabric tightly and embroider the designs one by one.

Quilting and Finishing
|
Now place the backing on a flat surface (table) face down. Cover with batting. Spread your working piece over it.
Pin all layers together. We quilted in a free-motion style all over the quilt. |
|
Press with heavy steam. Square the quilt – all corners should be 90 degrees, the left edge should be of the same length as the right edge, the upper edge should be of the same length as the bottom edge.
The final is step is to finish the raw edges with the binding. The binding in this quilt is wider than usual, we cut 2 strips 3 1/2" wide and the length of the width of the fabric. We stitched these to the quilt with seam allowance 1/2". |
