Embroidery:
Stabilize the fabric with iron-on stabilizer. Make sure that the fabric and stabilizer adhere to each other firmly. Hoop tightly. Upload the designs to the machine. Embroider.
After the embroidery is finished, unhoop and press. Do not remove the stabilizer!
On the back of the stitch-outs with hearts, draw the shape of a heart with margins of about 1/4" to 1/2" from the stitches.
Cut out the shapes. Trim the third stitch-out to a 4 1/2" x 6" rectangle. |
| Making Cards: |
Out of white cardstock, cut 2 strips measuring 7" x 10". Out of red cardstock, cut a strip of the same size. Fold each strip in half, aligning all edges. Using the handle of the scissors, make the crease on the folded edge.
| Out of red cardstock, cut 2 more pieces of about 5" x 6". |
Cut a piece of Steam-a-Seam2 web the same size as the stitch-outs.
Remove the protective paper on one side of the web. Place the stitch-outs on the web and press it with your fingers so that the stitch-out adheres to the web.
With the zig-zag shears, trim the edges of the shapes, simultaneously removing the excess web around the stitch-outs.
Remove the protective paper from the other side of the web on the heart-shaped stitch-outs. Place them on the red 5" x 6" pieces and press with a hot iron until the web melts and the stitch-outs are permanently glued. |
| With zig-zag shears, cut out the smaller heart-shaped stitch-out, repeating the heart shape and leaving 1/4" margins. |
| With zig-zag shears, trim the edges of the red rectangle with the heart-shaped stitch-out. |
Remove the protective paper from the other side of the web on the rectangular stitch-out. Place the stitch-out on the front of the folded red cardstock and press with a hot iron until the web melts and the stitch-out is permanently glued to the card.
| Adhere the heart-shaped stitch-outs to the folded white cardstocks. |
Out of letter size sheets of paper, cut 3 strips measuring 7" x 10" each. Fold them in half and insert into the cards.
| Use a ribbon to keep the inserts in place. |
| Have fun! |
