 The Violets Bowl and Doily Set

Our FSL Bowls are embroidered in the same way as ornaments. So please read the General Guidelines first.
Some points to remember from the General Guidelines:
Use Vilene water soluble stabilizer;
Use the same thread for the upper and bobbin to get two-sided embroidery.
DO NOT embroider several designs in one hoop.
These are the instructions on how to assemble the Violets Bowl and Doily Set from our catalog. Along with the embroidery files, you will get the color card, which will help you to select the threads, and also sort out the many parts of the design.
Step One: To make the bowl, you'll have to embroider six panels and the hexagon as a bottom. The bowl panel is the one in the upper left corner of the picture. The bowl bottom is right under the panel.

Use 2 layers of Vilene-type water-soluble stabilizer; use the same thread for both the  needle and bobbin to get 2-sided embroidery. The violets are in the cross-stitch technique, and there will be jump stitches. After finishing the embroidery, trim all the jumps.

Rinse the stabilizer and leave to air dry.

Step Two: Press all parts with steam and sew them together with invisible thread. Read instructions on how to do this in our Guide to Assembling a Freestanding Bowl.
Step Three: To make a doily, you'll have to embroider eight doily panels and the octagon as the center part. The doily panel is in the upper right corner of the picture. The doily's center is  in the second row, directly under the panel. For the doily, you can use white bobbin thread as it doesn't have to be two-sided.

Trim the jump stitches, rinse the stabilizer and leave to air dry. Press with steam and stitch the parts together using invisible thread.

The parts in the third row on the picture can be used as coasters, or arranged in different ways to make doilies, table runners and table toppers. See the photos below. Seven hexagons are arranged into a doily and more can be added to get a table topper. The square coasters can also be arranged into a doily, table mat, or a table runner.
Using the shapes in the last row of the picture you can make a doily or table runner. It can be made shorter or longer, wider or narrower according to your needs..
We also have a Violet Linen Set in our Catalog, which can be used to make a beautiful table cloth. The violet bowl compliments it very nicely and together they make a wonderful gift.
We hope that you like our violet bowl and the many possibilities it offers. Enjoy!
